My name is Elliot Newsonen. I’m an endurance swimmer.
I am very proud to have successfully completed some demanding swim challenges. Examples include:
- Swimming across the Strait of Gibraltar from Europe to Africa
- Pioneering the 3 Lakes in 3 Days challenge in England’s Lake District
- Attempting the 170 year-old Monte Cristo Escape Swim in Marseille, France
- Swimming the width of Lake Constance from Switzerland to Germany.
- Crossing the Strait of Bonifacio between Sardinia and Corsica.
I have a close association with the excellent Red Top Swim club in London. They specialise in long-distance, open-water swimming. Red Top swimmers have conquered some of the world’s most difficult swims. A remarkably high proportion of them have swam the English Channel. I trained with Red Top Swim extensively between the years of 2013 and 2018. It was an honour to swim with them.
I’ve always found it motivational to read about other people’s swimming exploits, so I use this site to share my experiences too. I like to document how I’m progressing towards my swim challenges and include those updates and some other things in the Blog. For posterity I’ve also included My Swim Event Log which details my major swims to date.
I hope you find this site interesting and useful. Get In Touch if you have questions about my swim challenges, would like some advice about your swimming or if you’d just simply like to go for a swim.
PS I took an extended break from swimming starting in late 2018 after I moved to the South of France. As I update this in late 2020, I have one thing to say. I’m back.
